ANXIETY, EMOTIONAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL DISORDERS
Susan is displaying signs of anxiety, however based on the length and the specific cause of her symptoms; I do not think that Susan is experiencing an anxiety disorder. Susan symptoms lead towards a social disorder which is a normal fear that people face when they have to present before crowds. Firstly, anxiety disorders may occur without having lived through any specific anxiety-producing event. Anxiety is sometimes caused by abnormalities in the genetic structures or an unbearable anxious situation which occurred in their childhood. However, based on the signs that Susan is displaying, she only gets anxious when she is faced with presenting in front of crowds where she will be observed by others. Therefore, based on this situation we can see that presenting before a crowd is the anxiety-producing event which triggers Susan’s response. This reaction is a normal one for many people including myself. This can be classified as an intense fear or phobia that people experience rather than an anxiety disorder. Moreover, Susan may be experiencing this fear because she may be afraid that she will do or say something that may be embarrassing. For this reason, she is rehearsing the material to perfect it in the hope that she does not mess up...
