PAD 515 Leadership and Conflict Resolution
Abstract
In the previous assignment we were asked to explain what a public leader is, what theories of leadership is, and what is the best style that exemplify the ideas behind the development of a public leader. The theories of leadership that were identified were the transformational and trait leadership theories. The characteristics that public leaders possess that are different from leaders in the private sector and public leaders are inspirational and focus on investing in the future. There are two types of leadership theories that are identified as the best styles to utilize the public leaders which are the transformational and democratic styles. The transformational theory is defined as being inspiring and forward thinking while the democratic style which can assert the power of the leader. This paper will expand more on identifying leader’s one male and one female that utilizes these theories which will include comparing and contrasting the theories of leaders identified examining their leadership styles, strengths, weaknesses, and their effectiveness.
